Children as young as seven are being groomed to sell drugs for ‘county lines’ drugs gangs in towns and villages all over the UK. This documentary follows four young people trapped in this world.
With middle class families in rural Oxfordshire being affected, drugs gangs are no longer just operating in the big cities and it has become a priority for police forces around the country. While the drugs gangs profit, many parents feel powerless as their children risk their lives carrying crack cocaine and heroin, and staying in so-called ‘trap houses’ for weeks at a time.
We follow police, parents and social workers trying to protect four young people and keep them safe, before it’s too late.
What the Press Say:
The Guardian - "This documentary gains remarkable levels of access to young people involved, often reluctantly, in this grim trade and follows police, parents and social workers as they attempt to find solutions."
The Telegraph - "We’ve all seen the headlines about county lines and the way in which vulnerable youngsters are groomed into the drugs trade, but Rebecca Coxon’s hard-hitting and distressing report for Dispatches brings home the bleak reality of the lives of these children"
